"Called" Mission Council Meeting - July 21st at 7:00 PM

This meeting is being called to hear recommendations from the Pastoral Search Committee on options for our ministry here at Grace during this interim period.  Two ministers are being considered to work as a team to provide the support we need in many areas of worship, Christian education & pastoral care.  Information on both of them is being provided below.

Issues discussed and voted on at the July 14th meeting will be reviewed and voted on again since several members of the mission council did not have the opportunity to participate and vote.

As always, all members of Grace are invited to attend!

INTERIM MINISTER POSITION:  DR. ROGER LOVETTE

"Roger Lovette grew up in Columbus, Georgia. He was educated at Samford University and has a doctorate from Lexington Theological Seminary. Roger has served six Baptist congregations, the last of which was The Baptist Church of the Covenant, downtown Birmingham for eight years.  He has been trained as an Intentional Interim through the Center of Congregational Health, Winston-Salem, NC. He has served Churches as Interim, one Disciple of Christ congregation--Valley Christian Church in Birmingham, two United Church of Christ congregations. MUSIC NOTES

Sherry Glenn did it again...sang beautifully at both services!  Thanks, Sherry, for sharing your exceptional talent with us!

Congratulations to April Crooks and Lori Amason and their cadre of assistants..."Splish, Splash, Bible Bash" is a wonderfully splashing successful Vacation Bible School.  The children have responded with enthusiasm and the VBS staff has been wonderful.  This Sunday, they all will be sharing some of their enthusiasm with the congregation at the 11 am worship.  In addition to having a slide presentation of the week and serving as ushers for the Offering, they are singing three of their songs learned during the week.  (I am so sorry to have to miss the "fruits of our labor", but I am leaving Saturday for Tulsa, Oklahoma where I will serve as the Handbell Clinician for the Disciples Musicians Bi-Yearly Conference.)  I know that the joy that our children and staff will bring Sunday will be heart warming!

Since I had been asked to do Pastoral Care during the week (for the time being), in my absence I have asked John and Jane Churchill to fill in that capacity.  If you have any needs, please call Denise (426-1233) and she will contact the Churchill's.

My prayers will be with Grace and I covet your prayers for me this week!

    Love,
        Phyllis

Thank you to GRACE from ...

Doris Thomas and Sharon Redus

Your many cards, phone calls, food, prayers, and other acts of kindness touched us deeply during and after our recent hospital stay.  It’s so wonderful to be part of this family of faith at Grace Christian Church, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Carol Southwick

What a blessing I have to belong to such a wonderful church family for all their prayers, calls, visits, and cards provided for me while I was in the hospital and since coming home.  Each and every one really touches my heart. Please continue to remember me during this recovery period.  I'm looking forward to being back in worship with you soon.

VISITOR ON JULY 13TH:  Laura Brookhart (guest of John & Phyllis Gibson)

Thanks Cliparts and GraphicsGrace is so fortunate to have many members who volunteer their time and efforts to keep our church in great condition; however, this week we'd like to highlight our Property Chairman, Roger Frederick, who has been overseeing all the road work going on at our church entrance.  He also made sure that our air conditioner system was repaired and is now running properly.  Additionally, he's quite a repairman when it comes to lawn mowers.  Please make sure to thank him for his devoted service here.
